Adobe Youth Voices Cinequest film camp kicks off with bursts of creativity
The Motion Graphics team gathers at Adobe headquarters to brainstorm ideas for their film.
The Adobe Youth Voices and Cinequest 2010 film camp kicked off yesterday with 30 participants gathering at the Adobe headquarters in downtown San Jose to begin the three week journey through the creative process of film making. Participants come from Boynton High School, CCOC, Moldaw Zaffaroni BGCP, Mervin G. Morris BGCP, Mt. Pleasanton High School, Overfelt High School, Peter Burnett Middle School, Tennyson High School and Willow Glen High School.
After the introductory comments that started at 9 am sharp, the participants were quickly split up into five groups: Stop Motion, Motion Graphics, Documentary, Music Video, and Flash Animation. Although technology plays a significant role in the production of films, yesterday, the focus was on coming up with the idea and collaborating on a concept that everyone agrees on.
Alex Yamamoto, the lead organizer of the film camp, noted that this year there is a stronger focus on teamwork as the projects are done in groups rather than by individuals.
The participants are asked to draw inspiration from their own lives and by thinking about what they want to see changed or profiled more in media and what are their visions for a more just and sustainable world. Miguel Salinas, Senior Program Manager of Adobe Youth Voices commented that he is always enlightened by the thoughtfulness and deep perspectives that the participants share when they are posed with these questions.
I love the entire creative process and enjoyed spending the morning as an observer of the process.. As we, as a generation, continue to find ways to accelerate the dissemination and replication of information, it is the creative process that validates our humanity.
