Dinner with the Queen of Scones and her magic flashlight wand
While in Loreto Bay, we received an invitation from the Queen of Scones herself, Kathy W— for an evening of fine dining with plastic China with her husband Dave and the Duchess Anne F— .
The evening started off with a hike up a winding staircase to a tower that was like one that Rapunzel must have been on when she let down her golden locks down. Up on the tower, with views of majestic mountains in far off land called Loreto Bay, appetizers of crackers, cheese and Chex Mex were served paired with reds, whites and yellows (aka: beer).
Kathy shared her colored past as an owner of an English tea house and the true way to create and serve scones. With such mouthwatering descriptions of scones, I thought perhaps the majesty herself would grace us with a couple of them in our hi-guy the next morning. Alas, I was disappointed, no scones were to be found the next day.
Royal crackers and cheese.
Finally, after enough wine to make us gleeful, but not too much so that we were still able to navigate our way down the winding stairs, we headed for the dining area for a delicious dinner and great banter.
Near the end of the evening, in the dimly lit dining room, Kathy, Queen of Scones, asked us if we wanted coffee. Upon receiving our requests, she pulled out her magic flashlight wand, waved it above some coffee pods and granted our wish for piping hot cups of coffee.
It was a wonderful dinner. Kathy and Dave were such gracious hosts…even if no scones were ever served.
