Solar Update: October 2009, leaping over September 2009
I knew it would eventually happen. After over a year of coverage of the solar generation from our Sunpower solar energy panels, I missed a month’s update, September 2009.
Sometimes, no news is good news. In this case, the solar panels have just quietly converted solar energy to electricity for our home.
I would be interested in seeing not only a financial break even study of solar panels which we were given extensive documentation on during the purchase process, but also the amounts of energy the solar panels must produce to be carbon and energy neutral. What I mean in reference to the latter is, how much energy goes into the production and transport of solar panels and how long does it take for the solar panels to earn back the amount of energy it took to create them in the first place.
I don’t know the answer. If there is anyone out there who does, love to hear your answers or even theories on the topic.
