Loreto, BCS: Another chapter to the great adventure
This is the first time my mom has accompanied us on our trip to Loreto, Baja California Sur. She was a great sport accompanying us on adventures that spanned waiting in government offices, prepping our Casa del Lagarto Azul, hiking along the beaches and trying out new restaurants and old favorites. BTW: Love this blouse. I purchased it from a store in Loreto!
It is Thursday and we will board a plane to head back to San Francisco Bay Area today. Over the coming weeks…maybe months, we’ll post stories and discoveries from our explorations here in Loreto, BCS.
Here is a sneak peek of some of the highlights as I start to enjoy the memories we have captured in photos and videos.
Visiting the Internado and watching the excitment as we brought out popsicles for the all the children. However, they seemed even more excited about the video camera that Clint had. As you know, the net proceeds from the 2010 Loreto Calendar will benefit these children.
Linda, Jesus and Patty who work and volunteer at the Internado.
Interview with Yuan Yee Cunningham, mayor of Loreto (left). Rodolfo G. (right) helps with the translation. Yes, I need to learn Spanish.
Met Colette and her friend Max. Colette was nice enough to let us use her terrace for the interview with the mayor of Loreto.
Trying out lattes and cappuccinos along with cinnamon rolls at El Cafe de Lolita. Photos by Deborah Scanlon adorn the cafe.
One of my favorite hardware stores in Loreto, Ferreteria "Chuco's". It's a family run business and this is actually Chuco.
Shrimp creation by the chef Juan at Mita Gourmet. These large shrimps are stuffed with cheese and wrapped in bacon. They were absolutely delicious and enhanced by the three dipping sauces.
Kathy and Dave were gracious enough to host us for a dinner party on Friday. What is Kathy doing here at the dining room table? Stay tuned and you will find out!

The former Ms. Global Petite runner-up is host of several SSC shows including WineTube TV, StarkSilverCreek Presents, Loreto Live, and the new series The Artist Diaries. Between busy travel schedules to Washington, Napa and global destinations such as Australia, the Baja and Europe, she expends the rest of her energy collecting wines, practicing “escape artist”-style cooking, and building what she hopes, one day, will be a real estate empire. She catches her breath by writing about her adventures.
