Live Earth Farm: Joining the ranks of community support agriculture

by Loni Kao Stark (@lonikaostark) | 11.14.09 | Comment

Live-Earth-FarmI’ve waited for about half a year to become a member of Live Earth Farm. Two days ago, the wait was over when I got an email from Debbie, CSA (Community Support Agriculture) coordinator that I had the opportunity to sign up for a share in the 2010 CSA program.

Without hesitation, I signed up for the “Small Share” program at $29/week for 34 weeks which will give Clint and I enough vegetables and fruit for two people per week. They also have a “Family Share” program for $34/week which provides more vegetables and fruits for a family of four.

Ever since Susan O— introduced me to the CSA programs in the SF Bay Area, I’ve been interested in joining. Michael Pollan’s book, The Omnivore’s Dilemma followed by a reading of In Defense of Food left me little doubt that Clint and I needed to introduce more variety and higher quality of vegetables and fruits while also supporting the local agriculture community.

I am really excited about becoming a member of the Live Earth Farm community and will update you on our experiences with the program once it kicks off in March of next year. How exciting!

The former Ms. Global Petite runner-up is host of several SSC shows including WineTube TV, StarkSilverCreek Presents, Loreto Live, and the new series The Artist Diaries. Between busy travel schedules to Washington, Napa and global destinations such as Australia, the Baja and Europe, she expends the rest of her energy collecting wines, practicing “escape artist”-style cooking, and building what she hopes, one day, will be a real estate empire. She catches her breath by writing about her adventures.
