Blue lizards and papayas, oh my!

Exploring Conchita’s Curios in Loreto Baja and its cluttered walls, floors and ceilings that can spark anyone’s imagination for home decor, I spotted this bright blue lizard hanging from a nail as I turned a corner on a set of stairs going down. It stood out since it was the only item along the stairwell that glowed this intensely.

I am not a believer of superstition, but I am absolutely opened to serendipity. I knew that this blue lizard would be the first item we place in our Loreto Bay home which has been named, Casa del Lagarto Azul (House of the Blue Lizard).

On another note, this trip has resulted in the consumption of eight (yes, 8!) papayas. We purchased 2 from El Pescador and 6 from the Sunday morning Farmer’s Market. I love papayas and if we had not named our home Casa del Lagarto Azul and decorated it with blue tiles by now, I think I could be convinced into painting the place orange and calling it the House of the 8 Papayas! This breakfast treat of sweet, ripe papayas will be missed…until our next trip to Loreto.
