My favorite movie moments: ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’

audrey-hepburn-breakfast-at-tiffanysThere are some movies you can just watch over and over, and still get the same goose bumps and chills. Breakfast at Tiffany’s is definitely one of them. It has classic written all over it.

No doubt, the centerpiece is Audrey Hepburn portraying a character, Holly Golightly, she was born to play.

In this day and age, the Mickey Rooney scenes can make me cringe — stereotypical overload. But then again, it was the 60′s baby, and people were smoking, partying and grooving like almost as if an upcoming energy crisis would never happen.

There are many memorable scenes in this movie. The $10 “shopping spree” at Tiffany’s. Hair on fire. Finding cat again.

But one moment towers above them all… when Ms. Hepburn, with guitar in hand, sitting on a window sill launches into an a cappella version of the beautiful and haunting (though karaoke-ified too much now!) ‘Moon River’. It kind of helps the drama when an off-screen orchestra joins in, but that’s just details my friend.

Here it is, again found on YouTube… all to enlighten your senses mid-week.

    Great pick Tom.

That’s one of my favorite movie moments too. In fact, I watched BatT with Clint when we were still dating. When this scene came on and told me he loved this scene, it was the first time I thought, “Gee, this guy may be marriage material.”

    Boy was I a sucker :-)
